Hazel Technologies’ products address these needs by increasing the shelf-life and durability of produce in the supply chain, so more people get better food.

Hazel Technologies is searching for a self-motivated and detail-orientated scientist to support new analytical and wet chemistry labs. The Analytical Associate will be a critical part of the chemistry R&D group, working with various members of the R&D and innovation teams.

Position Description:  

The Analytical Associate will report directly to the Chemistry Group Leader and be based at the Chicago headquarters of Hazel Technologies.


  • Assist in installation of analytical instrumentation and wet lab equipment at Hazel’s new headquarters and labs
  • Maintain lab spaces, equipment, and instrumentation to support a high level of R&D output
  • Perform frequent calibrations on analytical instruments and lab equipment, including HPLC, GC, GC-MS, UV-Vis, TGA, BET, DSC, PCR and others
  • Generate instrument SOPs and train new users
  • Manage facility scheduling system
  • Keep lab stocked with all needed supplies
  • Assist in sample preparation to support R&D research projects
  • Collect analytical data upon request from other R&D team members
  • Follow and promote lab safety protocols in the workplace

Requisite Skills:

  • One to three years of professional experience in chemistry lab, preferably in an industrial setting
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Detailed orientated and able to work independently to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Gas Chromatography competency
  • Experience in wet lab with skills including extraction, dilution, digestion, volumetric glassware.
  • Experience in SOP generation for instrumentation or equipment
  • Strong Microsoft excel skills or similar data processing software

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in laboratories meeting any of the following criteria: Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Experimental Practice(GEP), and ISO
  • Experience in quality control
  • Significant experience on GC instruments
  • Exposure to LC, TGA, BET, DSC, PCR is beneficial
  • Instrument maintenance experience
  • Experience in the Agricultural sciences or in the analysis of Agricultural Technology products
