Job Description:

Hazel Technologies is searching for a skilled pilot production technician to join its growing team.  This person will do daily evaluations of finished products to ensure strict adherence to specifications regarding product safety and quality. Duties will include conducting routine quality control sample preparation, quality control runs, equipment maintenance, and laboratory cleaning and organization. The pilot production technician will work no more than 30 hours per week on a temporary basis. There is the possibility for this role to become full-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor production line(s) to ensure efficiency
  • Remove or shift materials and/or finished products to facilitate proper flow
  • Perform tests and use special equipment to ensure package and product quality
  • Operate all manufacturing equipment efficiently and safely
  • Conduct routine quality control sample preparation and runs
  • Clean laboratory during and after shift
  • Maintain laboratory equipment
  • Follow process guidelines and expedite quality concerns to Engineering Manager or Laboratory Manager
  • Keep detailed records of all performed tests and runs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, or 5+ years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory environment handling hazardous materials
  • Experience with Gas Chromatography
  • Willingness to do manual and repetitive work
  • Ability to accurately perform basic math computations
  • Ability to enter data into reporting system.
  • Very good at performing accurate checks and maintained accurate records
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Approachable and team-oriented, creating a positive work environment
  • Combined prior experience in manufacturing, quality control and on the job training.
  • Willingness to occasionally run high-priority errands for technical team (picking up materials from suppliers or fruit from the market).

Preferences:

  • Some familiarity with QC/QA terms and operations to ISO 9000 Standards
  • Access to a car and a valid driver’s license
  • Liquid chromatography experience (HPLC)
  • Experience with any of the following technical methods
  • Thermogravimetric Analysis
  • BET analysis
  • UV-vis spectroscopy
  • Additional biochemical or analytical methods
  • Food technology or agriculture-based experience in any capacity
