Hazel Technologies is actively seeking a detail-oriented and deadline-driven Regulatory Affairs Specialist to support the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for biopesticide regulatory submissions and activities in the U.S. and Canadian regions. Regulatory compliance is of central importance to Hazel’s business activities and core mission.
Position Description:
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist (U.S./Canada) will report directly to the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. This role will be responsible for researching, compiling, and analyzing biopesticide and food contact regulations in support of regulatory submissions, strategy, and compliance with U.S., Canadian, and individual U.S. state pesticide and similar regulations as they may be applicable to Hazel’s existing and/or future business activities in those regions.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs on the planning and implementation of efforts to obtain new registrations, geographic business expansion, permits, and approvals.
- Prepare and submit biopesticide registration dossiers to the appropriate authority(ies) in compliance with pertinent regulations.
- Research and analyze regulations in assigned region to aid Hazel’s global regulatory and compliance strategies.
- Execute Hazel’s regulatory strategy by correct and timely submission of necessary documentation.
- Maintain an organized internal repository of regulatory data, communication, guidance, and submissions.
- Conduct internal presentations related to pertinent regional regulatory updates with potential to impact Hazel’s business.
- Correspond with and manage external consultants.
- Maintain an up-to-date calendar of regulatory related dates.
- Participate in industry association activities, related lobbying efforts, and travel as requested.
- Remain up-to-date with ongoing changes and trends in relevant country- and region-specific biopesticide regulation.
- Additional regulatory responsibilities as requested.
Requirements:
- One to three years of relevant regulatory affairs experience related to pesticidal products.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort with managing and meeting multiple concurrent deadlines and projects.
- Cognizance of confidential information concealment and disclosure best practices.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and time management skills.
- Team player with a demonstrated strong work ethic who excels at regulatory research and critical thinking.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree chemistry, biology, agriculture, biotechnology, related scientific discipline, or degree or relevant experience with pesticide regulation.
Preferences:
- Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint.
- Familiarity with fresh produce supply chain/food retail.
- Experience interacting with regulatory governing bodies and dossier submission.
- Knowledge of 25b pesticide requirements and relevant individual state requirements.
- Successful registration(s) submission(s) in the U.S. and/or Canada.
